ABOUT ME AND WHAT I OFFER

Ex party girl/Painter and Decorator turned Personal Trainer

Health and Fitness was never a priority for me throughout my young adult life. I trained to be a decorator in 2004. In 2010 I took a leap of faith and started my own business and it's been a job that has been so special to me. So why would I trade all of that for a change to fitness? Well, fitness was never on my radar until I was in my late 20's. I found that my job was getting more difficult and the party lifestyle was catching up with me. Everything felt heavy at work and I was struggling to do things that had once been easy as a spring chicken. Not to mention the increasing waistline from all those boozy night's out!. I started having PT myself at my local sports center and I was amazed at how quickly I built my strength up while losing some weight in the process. It's also at the gym where I met my husband Dec. Fast forward 7 years and I decided to start making the change to become a Personal Trainer myself. I studied hard between my full time job and my own training and I got my full certification the beginning of 2021.

I've trained in many different modalities because I think it's important to experiment and find what suits your body. What works for some wont work for others. Crossfit was a huge part of my life for years and as much as i mentally loved it, physically I suffered. My body craves slow, controlled and intentional. Because I'm not hammering my body now, I can afford to sneak in a WOD (crossfit talk for workout of the day) I now how the best of most worlds because I am smarter with my programming. My job as a movement coach is to find what style works best for you and programme accordingly for strength, end range strength, fitness and mindset. Hybrid style.

As mentioned above, my style of training is a hybrid method. Strength is so important to me and it's predominantly what I base my own training on and teach my clients. But, I have also come to realize, that mobility and breath work play a vital role in making resistance training safer and something that can, and should be practiced for the whole of our lives.  That being said, I have gone on to further educate myself on how to implement techniques to help create space in the body, so your joints and ribcage can move freely. This then sets you up to be a really successful athlete in whatever style of training you choose to do.

If you are a complete beginner then that's awesome! Think of yourself as the foundations ready to be built upon.

If you have some previous experience or you're a seasoned athlete, you'll most definitely benefit from incorporating some mobility and breath work into your routine. Think better movement quality, increased joint strength and bigger lifts.

MOBILITY AND BREATH WORK IS A FORM OF STRENGTH TRAINING IN ITSELF.

Believe me when I say you can absolutely get a sweat and the shakes on while performing it!

Hi I am Sarah, a 44 year old Mum of 2, wife and fur mum to three cats and a rabbit.

After a 5 year period working in HR and recruitment,  with an underlying passion for health and fitness, I quit my job 18 months ago to complete my Nutrition CACHE level 2.

I have used the time during the COVID19 lockdown to further my education and have now gained CMA and CPD recognised qualifications  in Eating Psychology, Clinical Weight Loss, Advanced Weight Loss, Body Love, Cancer Awareness and Fitness and Personal Training (focussing on sports injuries and PT foundations) and whilst doing that I had 2 surgeries, 5 rounds of chemo and 15 sessions of radiotherapy for breast cancer.

As a busy Mum, I understand how it can be hard to navigate the world of healthy eating, but I want to share my knowledge and help you understand that it doesn’t need to be really complicated.  By sharing knowledge and ideas, we can look at your current diet, make changes to improve your health and introduce simple changes to habits and mindset.

This programme will help you learn the basics about healthy eating, alongside strength, mobility and breath work.  I will help you by calculating and monitoring your weekly calories and macros using a free app (MyFitnessPal) and provide hints, tips and guidance about healthy habits, food swaps and a non nonsense guide to eating well, on both a group and individual level.  I will be available via social media platforms (see bottom of bio) and I will be joining in online and face to face classes, so you can reach me in many ways.
